Why am I writing about climate change on a blog devoted to wrongful convictions? My justification is that carbon dioxide has been wrongfully convicted of causing global warming, according to climate scientists, and the alarmism is causing many children to be overly anxious. (Not to mention all the other damage…) And I’ve been ‘triggered’ …
The trigger for this post is a column in The Australian (2/9/23) by commentator and broadcaster Chris Kenny, admonishing climate alarmists for fuelling the fear afflicting children. He singles out the ABC but there are others just as guilty. His column echoes my own concerns about the irresponsibility shown by most media as well as the government for terrifying children … unnecessarily.
Writes Kenny: “Ironically, the ABC children’s program I have called out for putting the fear of Gaia into our young people, Behind the News or BTN, recently focused on the psychological impact of climate change on children. The segment began with a clip of ABC News telling viewers about “Earth’s hottest month on record”, US President Joe Biden talking about the “existential threat” of climate change and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warning “climate change is here, it is terrifying, and it is just the beginning. (He of ‘global boiling’ fame…)
“What a way to reassure and inspire children about their future. The program presenter, Amelia Moseley, said climate talk was “pretty much everywhere all the time and sometimes all this bad news can really start to get to us”. You can say that again. Moseley continued: “In fact, experts have a name for this, it’s known as climate anxiety.”
“The ABC then showed social scientist Blanche Verlie from the University of Wollongong talking about people’s “painful feelings” and “worry about the future”, while psychiatric epidemiologist and health services researcher Fiona Charlson of the University of Queensland said the images of bushfires and floods were “very distressing”.
“Then we heard from schoolchildren, seemingly in their early teens. “What I’m mainly worried about is what would happen in the future,” said one boy. “When I hear about climate change it does make me feel scared,” said a girl, before another added: “I don’t want our home to be destroyed”, and a third said: “In the future it’s going to be even worse, Earth is not going to be liveable for us.”
He adds: In my “child abuse” column I used examples from literature – Cormac McCarthy’s The Road and Peter Goldsworthy’s Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam – to underline how, when there is true bleakness and real hopelessness, parents protect young people from it rather than fuel panic and insecurity. With climate, a greater emphasis on the facts, rather than hype, would be reassuring.
My decades-long interest in this subject was given public expression in my recent book, Climate Alarm Reality Check – What You Haven’t Been Told (Wilkinson Publishing). I dedicate the book “to the panic stricken 12 year old schoolgirl I saw sobbing on the TV news fearing the world will soon end because of ‘climate change’ – and all her fellow schoolchildren around Australia.”
Filled with uncontested facts, the book presents the findings of research by scientists that challenge the alarmist speculation of not just activists but world leaders. The book quotes experts in the field who are not bound by the ruling orthodoxy. Scientists who know the devilish complexity of climate science and do not believe the simplistic notion that carbon dioxide is the earth’s heat control knob.

How many reasonable people would accept unquestioningly that a non-toxic man made gas that is 0.038% of the atmosphere is a pollutant driving global warming? That’s the amount of man-made CO2 in our atmosphere. Australia’s share, at 1.3% of that, is 0.0005%.

Over 1600 international signatories to the 2022 Climate Declaration*, some 300 scientists in a petition to the US President, 33 current and former Fellows of the Geological Society and many individual scientists have affirmed that there is no climate emergency.

Man-made carbon dioxide is innocent
Princeton Professor, emeritus, William Happer, who has studied possible CO2 related climate change for over 40 years, succinctly states his opinion:
”There isn’t a climate crisis. There will not be a climate crisis. It is utter nonsense.”
MIT Professor, emeritus, Richard Lindzen has studied climate even longer than Happer, his comment:
“What historians will definitely wonder about in future centuries is how deeply flawed logic, obscured by shrewd and unrelenting propaganda, actually enabled a coalition of powerful special interests to convince nearly everyone in the world that carbon dioxide from human industry was a dangerous, planet-destroying toxin.
“It will be remembered as the greatest mass delusion in the history of the world – that carbon dioxide, the life of plants, was considered for a time to be a deadly poison.”
“I suspect that many people believe that there is an instrument that measures the Earth’s temperature. As most of you know, that is not how the record was obtained.
“Obviously, the concept of an average surface temperature is meaningless. One can’t very well average the Dead Sea with Mt. Everest. Instead, one takes 30 year annual or seasonal means at each station and averages the deviations from these averages. The results are referred to as annual or seasonal mean anomalies.”
Back in 2010, 43 Fellows of the Royal Society (The United Kingdom’s national academy of sciences, a Fellowship of some 1,600 of the world’s most eminent scientists) wrote to its then president, Paul Nurse, to complain about the unscientific tone of the society’s messages on climate change. Eight years later, a group of 33 current and former Fellows of the Geological Society wrote an open letter to their president in similar vein.
The letter notes that: “The IPCC position matches observations that almost half of the warming that has occurred over the last 150 or so years since industrialisation, had already happened by 1943, well before the rapid rise of industrial CO2 This difference of opinion is critical, for if CO2 did not cause the pre-1943 warming, the claimed consensus that Catastrophic AGW is caused by human CO2 emissions since the Industrial Revolution, which is supported by GSL, must be mistaken.
“We also believe the GSL has a responsibility to refute the exaggerated claims that swirl around the fringes of the Climate Change debate, undermining the real science – such as that CO2 and Climate Change cause: more hurricanes, more rain, more drought, more asthma and now, even more terrorism (through drought in Africa), the exceptional cold and warm recorded over most of the sub-Arctic, Northern Hemisphere during the past winter and spring are what we should ‘expect’ from Global Warming.
“As this letter makes clear, it is not true that 97% of scientists unreservedly accept that AGW theory is fixed, or that carbon and CO2 are ‘pollutants’ and their production should be penalised; how can the primary nutrient in photosynthesis be a pollutant?”
Melbourne based climate data analyst John McLean, whose PhD thesis is titled “Prejudiced authors, prejudiced findings”, claims that the climate data being used to propagate warming theories is essentially unreliable. He describes carbon dioxide emission mitigation policies as “a solution in search of a problem”.
Agreed. Thanks Andrew, I have to comment so my support is shown, in all the way. It seems sensible people have similar thoughts on multiple subjects.
Like, nonsense seems to rule, lack of common sense by a large number of society.
It is time the frightened silent, became vocal and get over the fear of voicing their opinion in a democratic society, because their future and their childrens future is going down the tubes.

” Climate Change ” !Parts of Australia are now possibly facing future rolling Power Blackouts like South Africa, another country which sells it vast coal deposits Overseas and has the record as the most unequal society with 40 % of its population (the young ) unemployed and much homelessness . I think the whole economy of Australia has been mismanaged for the benefit of a select few. In my opinion , the vast coal and iron ore deposits should have been nationalised in the 1960s to provide all Australians a better standard of living and to defend the country. Coal power stations were privatised . Result ? High electricity prices ! Solar panels (made in China ? ) which will only last a few years occupying land, ugly power-lines across prime farm land— creating huge amounts of more nasty waste when they reach their end of life ! Electricity prices will not come down! All in the name of “saving the planet from Climate Change “.
Countries like Singapore, Ireland storing “The Cloud”in giant warehouses which emit great heat and noise and use enormous amounts of water and electricity. What happens to our banking records, etc if there these are hit by terrorism or some violent “act of God “?
Andrew – Wrongful Convictions and the climate change dishonest carbon talk are both part of the same societal blatant dishonesty syndrome . This almost weird need it seems humans have – to lie our effing guts out ! Then lie and lie that they didn’t lie and are not lying to cover up their lying ! Wholly Mackeral -DPP job for me. The reason the word “CARBON” is used – is dishonest – To many – carbon is nasty black gunk – whereas carbon dioxide is a colourless-odourless gas – plants love it ! We breath it out .The use of “ClimateChange” as an expression- rather GlobalWarming” – quite different meaning – Dear Old Mother Earth’s Climate has always changed – sometimes catastrophically ! The 1300s to 1850s mini ice age and the great famine 1315 to 1351. Caused by a sudden short term climate change – and no bloody coal mines ! However cannot see how pumping crap into the Atmosphere is a good idea – or rivers or the Oceans. A lot of the other particles and gas emissions from many sources including volcanoes / power stations are truly not good – The Real Problem – far too many people on the blue planet ! If all 8 billion could all please face East at exactly the same time – all let one GO (while smoking a Camel) – the resulting thunderous flash would startle Galileo’s theories.
I have been admonished for claiming the Commission of Inquiry into the abuse of children in Tasmania, which issued it’s report on the second anniversary the Etter/Selby papers were handed over to the legislative council in Hobart (to be ignored) has also ignored a wide range of child endangerment issues known to be present in Tasmania at this moment in time. Climate alarmism is one very concerning matter, as is the Green Party member Nick McKim who admonished Posie Parker so abusively in the debating chamber claiming she should be “thrown into the bin” for conducting a Let Women Speak rally outside Parliament House in Hobart on the 21/03/2023 to discuss the introduction of gender ideology introduced into the school curriculum after the TransLaws were passed. Clearly the Penal Colony Mentality remains in full force in this State in the thoughts and vile false allegations and nasty name calling McKim engaged in, in the debating chamber which defamed Posie’s good name and reputation. He has no substance to his debate because his truth and reasoning is incoherent and substantively wrong as is also true with the climate change alarmists Andrew is reporting upon in this article.
ANDREW- Talking about Child Abuse and the Infamous Ashley Tasmaniac Childrens Rape Prison – Meagan Vass-when only 15 would have been well aware of Tasmaniac Policeymens Involvement in getting ya in there ! The last thing Meagon wanted was protection from that lot of DNA on the boots Policeymens and Blue Vomit Cloth Concealers ! Meagan gave her streetwise opinion of Tasmanian Policeymen . One would have to be out of ya tree nuts to accept Police protection in Tasmaniac ! By the way – water is Hydrogen and Oxygen- two gases that are completely different from water . Carbon and Carbon dioxide are totally different elements and compounds .Climate Crusaders use the Carbon Gunk word because they are well aware of the weaknesses in the Carbon Dioxide Mantra . The climatic history of Lake Balaton is very interesting – couldn’t find a fish n Chips shop !
