Invitation to readers of wrongfulconvictionsreport: please join Andrew for Movies Now, a series of six new movies prior to their commercial release, followed by a discussion with a film industry practitioner; Wednesdays from Feb. 5, 2020.
Starting its 15th year, Movies Now is a program of Sydney University’s Centre for Continuing Education, presented at Dendy Newtown, Sydney. Andrew presents films from the upcoming release schedule – unannounced. Private previews, surprise films. Andrew has been a film journalist and movie reviewer for over 20 years and founder of urbancinefile.com.au
The movies are selected to showcase the variety of filmmaking; different genres, languages and styles. At the end of each screening, Andrew introduces a special guest from the film industry to discuss various elements of the film, from screenplay and direction to design and music.
Background briefing notes on the film and the filmmakers are made available online the following day.
“I select a menu of films worth talking about,” says Andrew, “and everyone is invited to have their say – or ask our guest a question. It’s relaxed and informative. We don’t announce the films in advance so people can come with an open mind.”
