Lucky girl, that Brittany Higgins …the young woman who in December 2022 was hastily paid $2.44 million in compensation by the Federal Government partly for not being able to ever work again after being allegedly raped by fellow Parliamentary staffer Bruce Lehrmann – on the balance of probabilities – has signed up with celebrity agent 22. a talent management agency.
The payout was based on Higgins’ 2021 salary over a 40-year period, adding an extra $1 million for promotions she could have received, but taking away $1.5 million on the basis her circumstances could have changed. (Translation: they made it up as they went along…)
The head of the 22. agency, Sean Anderson, is quoted to have said “I’m thrilled that I finally get a chance to work with her.” He didn’t say whether her salary was discounted in view of the compensation payment Higgins received in lieu of future salary earned …. And Higgins didn’t say whether she would refund the commonwealth (ie us taxpayers) … As at June 26, 2025, Higgins is not listed on the agency’s website.
Higgins reached the mammoth settlement with the commonwealth over claims she was not supported by Senator Reynolds after her rape allegations against Bruce Lehrmann in Parliament House. The Australian revealed in 2022 that the Albanese government had threatened to tear up an agreement to pay Senator Reynolds’ legal fees and any costs awarded if she attended the mediation.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission was unable to find any evidence of corrupt conduct in the compensation payout to Higgins after her alleged rape in Parliament House.
On June 4, 2025, Higgins revealed she has a new job, declaring that “your girl is finally back in the workforce”. The former Liberal staffer has started work with Sydney public relations agency Third Hemisphere, which currently employs her husband David Sharaz.
